Here’s a lesson on a killer rudiment you should get into.

The Flam Accent is a favourite of mine. It initially took me a little time to get good at it but it certainly paid off and I use it all the time. This crucial and diverse rudiment works well in all styles of music and it never really feels out of place provided you play the accents and keep the other notes soft.

It can be played naturally in triplets as it’s based on a group of three or my favourite application is 16th notes – using the three note figure over groups of four. It’s groovy and you’ll like it!

Check out the lesson and let me know your thoughts. I hope you dig this.

Enjoy the vid.
