This lesson deals with another cool sticking that I use all the time. It’s a three note sticking that works wonderfully in triplets but also across other subdivisions. The sticking is simply Right, Left, Left (RLL).

As triplets or exactly 3 notes, the sticking will fit great around the standard 5-piece drum kit with 3 toms. In this way we’re playing an accent with the right hand and two ghost notes on the left hand. If you then place the accent on the snare, tom 1, tom 2 and floor tom you’ll will have played a full bar. Things get more interesting when we play a group of three notes in a group of 4s. Check out the lesson to see how this happens! Enjoy!
